Every birding journey starts somewhere, and for Adam, it began later in life during a difficult season. Birding became more than just a hobby—it was a much-needed escape, shifting his focus away from life’s challenges and toward the incredible world of birds. What started with the birds in his own backyard soon grew into a passion that has taken him to incredible places, all in search of new species to add to his list.

Originally from Zimbabwe, Adam moved to South Africa at the age of five and is now based in Amanzimtoti on the Upper South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal. His local birding patch, the Sapphire Coast, has provided him with unforgettable moments, from hidden birding gems to the daily joy of watching the birds that frequent his garden. He thrives on exploring overlooked areas, always eager to uncover new birding opportunities where few have ventured.

Since 2020, Adam has hosted The Birding Life Podcast, which has grown into one of the biggest birding podcasts, attracting both a local and international audience. Through the podcast, he has not only showcased incredible birding destinations and introduced listeners to inspiring birders but has also highlighted critical conservation initiatives. In 2024, he partnered with Malawi’s Department of Tourism to promote the country’s exceptional birding opportunities.

Adam is deeply committed to conservation and actively seeks ways to support and promote organizations making a real difference. He played a role in organizing the Wagtail Conservation Festival in Amanzimtoti and is a proud member of BirdLife eThekwini, where he served on the club committee for over two years. Whether through his work in birding media or conservation efforts, Adam is dedicated to sharing the wonder of birds with others and ensuring their protection for generations to come.
